The Fit is a 5-door Super mini from Honda. First released in 2001, this popular line of hatchbacks are known as the Honda Jazz in European markets. The initial generation was available in 6 specs, depending in location. GD1: 1.3 L 2WD, GD2: 1.3 L 4WD (JDM), GD3: 1.5 L 2WD, GD4: 1.5 L 2WD (USDM), GD5: 1.5 L 4WD (JDM) and GD6: 1.2 L 2WD (EDM).

The 1. gen. Fit was fitted with a 1.2, 1.3, or 1.4 liter i-DSI engine, or a 1.5 liter VTEC engine. The 8 valve i-DSI engines came with double spark plug for cleaner and more efficient fuel combustion. The 1.5 L VTEC engine had a standard 16-valve configuration. Available with wither 5-MT, 5-AT, CVT or CVT-7 transmission.

The 1992 Civic was slightly bigger, and featured more aerodynamic styling than previously. The U.S. version featured either a SOHC VTEC or a VTEC-E engine, depending on trim level. A SiR version was also made available, featuring a 1.6 liter B16A DOHC VTEC engine, now outputting 170PS.

For the 2008 model, the Fit 2nd. gen. was released, featuring a similar one-box shape, and a panoramic glass roof. This new fit is wider, longer, and has a longer wheel base. The engine is a new 1.3 L i-VTEC, producing up to 98 hp, and 98 lb/ft (133 N/m) of torque. A new 1.5 L i-VTEC-engine is also offered, and produces a maximum output of 117 hp (87 kW), and 106 lb/ft (144 N/m) of torque. The chassis has been redesigned, and it is now 164% more rigid. The Fit 2. generation is said to have superior suspension and handling, and improving breaking.

With gas prices on the rise, Japan has seen the trend of mini's becoming a major tuning base for today's enthusiasts. Both Supercharger and Turbocharger kits have been developed for a variety of minis as well as selections of aero, exhaust, and suspension parts by many major and minor brands in the JDM tuning industry. The Honda Fit has a variety of parts available for it to be a faster, sharper handling city cruiser and track racer.
