about Inspire

The Honda Inspire was a luxury sedan introduced in 1990. It has been known by many names, the Accord Inspire, Honda Vigor, Acura Vigor and the Saber. This 4-door hardtop was available with either a 2.5 L G25A1 l5, or a 2.0 L G20A1 l5, matched to either a 4 speed automatic or 5 speed manual transmission.

1995 saw an updated version of the Inspire, now the 2nd. gen. model. It shared is platform with the Honda Legend, and was sold abroad as the Acura 3.2 TL. The Vigor name was dropped in favor of the Honda Saber. The side mounted 2.5 L in-line 5 engine and layout were kept, and sold as the Acura 2.5 TL. The available engines were the 3.2 L C32A5 V6 engine and the 2.5 L G25A1 l5 engine, along with the 2.0 L G20A1 l5 engine. A 4-speed automatic was offered as the only option.

The 3rd. gen. of the Inspire was the TL, released in 1999, and based on the U.S. model Accord. Designed and created in the U.S., these cars were imported in to Japan as the new Inspire and Saber models. Available engines were the 3.2 L J32A1 VTEC V6, and the 2.5 L J25A VTEC V6 with either 4 or 5 speed AT.

The Inspire reached its 4th. generation in 2003, when it was introduced in Japan. This redesigned American spec Accord marks the first Honda to use the VCM, or Variable Cylinder Management technology. The mid cycle update for the 4.th gen. was in 2005, bringing with it a light restyling, new headlights, taillights, updated interior and new colors. The Inspire was a direct competitor to the Nissan Teana, the Toyota Mark X an many other of the affordable luxury cars in Japan. The engine was a 3.0 L J30A5 i-VTEC V6 paired with a 5-AT.

The latest Inspire was revealed in 2007, and is a rebadged version of the 2008 USDM Accord, with small exterior and interior modifications. The 5th. generation Inspire features a 3.5 L J35A7 i-VTEC V6 engine with a 5 speed automatic transmission.

The Inspire is a popularly tuned car for the LUX/DUB style car enthusiasts. Inspires are also a popular base for lowriders. Aero, Suspension, Exhaust, and more are available from shops around Japan to better the looks, lower the ride height, and deepen the voice of your Honda Inspire.
