The Honda NSX was a pure performance sports car released in 1990. Sporting a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout, and a VTEC all-aluminum V6 gasoline engine. The NSX was available in a sports car trim, and an all-out racing trim, called the NSX Type R, featuring a 3,179 cc C32B V6 290 bhp engine with 224 lb/ft (304 N/m) of torque. All unnecessary parts were striped, lighter seats were fitted, reducing weight by a whopping 120 kg, putting the total weight at 1,230 kg. The suspension was completely replaced to better suit high speed track racing, using stiffer springs and eliminating oversteer. The drive ratio was also tweaked to provide optimum performance. The result is a track monster capable of blistering lap times.

The NSX is considered to be Japan's exotic car. Unlike the Skyline GT-R, tuning parts are not as abundant. This is probably because of the high price of the NSX. The price of the car however will not stop some, as NSX owners have added turbochargers and superchargers to their NSX's to gain the power to match 400+ hp ferraris and lamborghinis. Although it isn't as powerful as its foreign competition stock for stock, the NSX's superb handling and great styling has given it a loyal following. Tuned NSX's can be seen at circuits like Tsukuba and Fuji Speedway, flying around the track in intense battles against Ferraris, Porches, and GT-Rs. Production of the NSX ended in 1995.
