MAZDA Miata Roadster
about Miata Roadster
The Mazda MX-5, also known as the Miata in North America, and Roadster in Japan. Introduced in 1989, this modern take on a classic roadster is still in production. Featuring a unibody construction and a light weight and minimalist setup, the roughly 1000 kg heavy car would easily accelerate past the competition, with its 120 bhp engine. The 50/50 weight distribution, and handling-oriented design made the Miata a popular choice for amateur, and stock car racing. The MX-5 has won over 150 awards, and continues to be one of the most popular 2 seater sports cars.
1.Gen (1989~1997) NA, featured a 1.6 L straight-4 engine, (1.8 L from 1993). Easily recognizable pop-up headlights.
2.Gen (1998~2005) NB, was introduced in 1998 , with a small bhp bump.
Distinguishable by the fixed headlights, and the glass rear window.
3.Gen (2005~) NC, was brought to market in 2005, sporting a 2.0 L engine. The new design featured bulging fenders and a rounded bonnet design.
Unlike other parts of the world where the Miata Roadster is considered a girl's car, tuning of the Miata Roadster is highly popular here in Japan. Its relatively cheap cost to buy and maintain makes the Mazda a great base car for tuning. Its small size makes the Miata Roadster an excellent handling car, and its engine is more than capable enough to rocket the car around the track and winding roads to put a smile on your face. Gymkhana, Grip, Drift, Drag. Tuners around Japan have tweaked and tuned many great performing examples to compete in all genres of motorsports competition.
