The FTO was a coupe produced for the JDM by Mitsubishi in '94. The FWD coupe was available with either a straight-4, or a transversely mounted V6 engine with either a 5-speed manual or INVECS-II semi-automatic transmission with either 4 or 5 speeds.

A facelifted version was released in '97, the only exterior change was a larger air intake in the front bumper and restyled housings for the lights. The facelift also brought with it the GP Version R, a light weight upgraded GPX spec version of the FTO.

The FTO is considered to be a minor car in the tuning world. Aftermarket supporters for the FTO are few. Reasoning for the car's lack of parts could be because of the FTO's strong image of a touring car/street cruiser rather than a tuning car. However, there are FTO dedicated companies available such as aero parts maker, Aerocraft Kaze, to help build your own unique FTO.
