Lancer Evolution


The Lancer Evolution was launched by Mitsubishi in 1992, and is also known as the Lancer Evo, or just Evo. The Evo featured a 2 liter turbocharged engine, and 4-wheel drive. Developed especially for rally racing, these cars were sold at a few locations from 1998, and exported officially to the U.S. in 2003. Though japanese automakers at the time had an agreement not to surpass 280hp, the evos unofficially topped that, and some versions were sold abroad with up to 405 bhp (302 kW).


Lancer Evolution X


The Lancer Evolution X is the latest generation of Lancer Evolution, unveiled in 2005, with production starting in 2007. The Evo X features an all new 4B11T 2.0 L turbocharged, all-aluminum l4 engine. Performance varies depending on spec and location, but no less then 276.2 hp (280 PS / 205.9 kW ). As with previous Lancer Evolution models, the UK received a line up of highly tuned FQ models with horsepower numbers going up to 404 hp. Several new innovations are included in the EVO X, such as the new S-AWC torque vectoring, and next generation RISE safety body tech. The lancer Evo X won a number of awards, such as the Best Performance Car under $50K (2009), AJAC's Best New Technology Award (2009) and New York International Auto Show Lancer Evolution X is Announced as one of the top 10 World Performance Car of the Year.


The Lancer Evolution is extremely popular among gymkhana and grip racers. The powerful 4B11 engine and great handling 4WD system makes for a perfect tuning base, and has proven itself to be a great performer by many highly tuned examples within Japan and throughout the world. Lancer Evolutions can be seen in motorsports competitions such as nationwide Time Attack challenges and the D1 Grand Prix drifting competition. Aero Parts, Suspension, Exhaust, Wheels, Interior aspects of the CZ4A can be upgraded and parts are available through a wide variety of garages and parts manufacturers all over Japan. Parts catalogs from manufacturers are continuing to grow as tuners continue to experiment with the 4B11 engine.
