SUBARU GDA GDB Impreza
about GDA GDB Impreza
The popular Impreza line continued in 2001 with the introduction of the GD GG line.
The new Impreza was designed to be larger, safer, stiffer, more refined, and more responsive than its predecessor. This unfortunately made it slower, less raw, and less desirable to the disappointment of Subaru fans. The design was debated much upon, with the headlights sturring up much conversation. Despite this, the changes help give the car a more mainstream appleal. In '04 the Impreza received a facelift, changing the headlights, and again in '06, this time changing the front grill.
In North America, 2002 saw the turbocharged WRX version, and the STI did not become available until 2004. The North American market version deviated from the rest, receiving a 2.5 L EJ257 engine, rather than the twin scroll turbo EJ20 engine.
In 2005, Subaru made their AVCS standard on all engines used in the Impreza.
The Impreza is extremely popular among gymkhana and grip racers. The powerful EJ20 engine and great handling 4WD system made for a perfect base, and has proven itself to be a great performer by many highly tuned examples within Japan and throughout the world. Imprezas can be seen in professional motorsports competitions such as the WRC, Japan's Super GT, and the D1 Grand Prix drifting competition. Aero Parts, Suspension, Exhaust, Wheels, Interior, etc. All aspects of the GD Impreza can be upgraded and parts are readily available through a wide variety of garages and parts manufacturers all over Japan.
