The Toyota ist was a subcompact from Toyota. It has been exported to the states under the name xA and now xD. The ist was based on the first Toyota Vitz hatchback model, available originally with a 1300 cc or 1500 cc engine, and a 1800 cc engine offered in the 2nd. gen. model. Even though the first models only featured a 1300 engine, the low weight of the car made it fast to 100, and capable of speeds over 230 km/h. The 2nd. gen. ist was largely similar to the first, only receiving a front design upgrade. The Japanese version featured an AT transmission and a center console.

Like the Vitz and bB, the ist proved to be a major hit. Although not as much of a hit in the aftermarket community like the bB and Vitz.
