Once customized to match the applications oil pans (sump) design. When the oil moves away from the pickup and air gets sucked in. In an instant, the oil film is cut and there is metal contact which will see the temperatures soar. This can lead to terminal engine failure. The one way rubber valve keeps the strainer always submerged in oil. The pictured example installation is different from the actual kit, as the one pictured was a customized installation.
